SM Supermalls heats up summer with pickleball and youth bowling tournaments

SM Supermalls is turning up the energy this summer with not one but two major sporting events: the SM Active Hub Pickleball Trio Challenge and the inaugural PBF Youth Cup — giving both seasoned players and young athletes a stage to compete, grow, and connect.

Pickleball Gets a Team Twist

The SM Active Hub Pickleball Trio Challenge puts a fresh spin on the fast-rising sport by adding a team-based format to the mix. Rather than going solo, players will compete in groups of three — with each team required to include at least one woman, making the tournament as inclusive as it is competitive.

Game on at the SM Active Hub Pickleball Trio Challenge—where every rally brings teams together for a fast-paced, maxed-out experience.

The series runs across five qualifying legs at SM malls in Metro Manila and Laguna:

  • May 17 — SM City Bicutan
  • May 24 — SM City Sta. Mesa
  • June 7 — SM City Santa Rosa
  • June 28 — SM City Marikina
  • July 5 — SM Center Muntinlupa

The action culminates on July 12 at Four E-Com Center — SM Active Hub’s newest venue featuring six dedicated pickleball courts. Open to DUPR 9 and DUPR 11 players, registration is set at ₱5,700 per team.

The tournament is backed by SM Active Hub, Paloo, Sports Central, Milo, Nature’s Spring, and Picklecrew PH.

Young Bowlers Step Into the Spotlight

Also making its debut this season is the PBF Youth Cup, a nationwide bowling tournament developed in partnership with the Philippine Bowling Federation. Designed for aspiring competitors aged 21 and under, the cup gives junior bowlers a credible, structured platform to test their skills against peers from across the country.

Divided into two age brackets — 16 and below and 17 to 21 — with separate male and female categories, the tournament follows a single-player format held at SM Bowling branches nationwide.

Qualifying rounds run from April 8 to May 13, after which center champions move on to branch finals. The top performers then advance to the National Finals at SM North EDSA on May 31, 2026.

Winners take home medals, exclusive prizes, and up to six months of free bowling — while anyone who rolls a perfect game during the tournament earns a full year of complimentary lanes.

More Than Medals

Whether on the pickleball court or the bowling lane, SM Supermalls is positioning itself as a home for Filipino athletic development — building communities around sport and giving the next generation of champions somewhere to start.
