Riding easy through Kabankalan, Negros Occidental, a PH Loop experience

Riding easy through Kabankalan from Dumaguete felt like dancing with the waves. It’s hilly and smooth, makes me feel like I’m in a movie.

While riding, I remember a Facebook image of a beautiful undulating highway, said to be taken somewhere in the city. I think it was shot during sundown, and it showed a pretty nostalgic countryside vibe. I was wishing that we’ll pass through it although I’m not sure about it’s exact location.

Just before I shelve the thought, Ramir saw a roadside eatery called La Familia and pulled over for lunch.

After hopping off the bike, I turned my gaze back into the hilly highway we just passed through—and there it was—the exact highway on my mind!

I was thinking about it not knowing we are already riding through it. It was beautiful on a clear, hot midday with a backdrop of distant mountains with winding roads we conquered coming from the town of Mabinay.

Life gifts us with little surprises, sometimes to comfort, sometimes to remind, and maybe to make us realize.

That we may already be in the moment we’ve been thinking—or dreaming of, if only we pause and look back.
